The News: Do We Really Need it? News Media Has Done Very Well at Keeping Us informed. In their Executive Summary, most folks agreed that the News Media keeps them informed of what is happening (61%), and they also help them know current events (50%) – something that many people are now taking advantage of. Now, I don’t think that people need to take advantage of this, but I do think that we should be careful how much information we allow our brains to be exposed to.
I know that there are some things that you really don’t want to hear about when you are reading the News. Things like crime statistics and how big your house is, or how much money you have in your bank account are things that you do not want to hear. I know that I do not want to hear about these things in the News, so it is very important for me to know how they are doing because that means that I am doing well! The other thing that I do not want to know about, is a news story that does not involve me. This is another thing that I am not interested in hearing about.
The best way to avoid having to listen to too much of the News is to only listen to what is relevant. If you have a problem with something, then you want to hear about it. But, if you just happen to be listening to a news segment where somebody is talking about a topic that you already know something about, then you will be wasting your time. So, the best way to avoid hearing all the News, and knowing all the News is to only hear what is relevant.
News is good for keeping us informed about the things that make the world go round. That’s a good thing. But, it is also an opportunity for you to make decisions, as well, and if you do not know what is going on, you could end up making a good decision with entertainment staffing agencies.
